Arrears not paid, teachers to gherao treasury today

Teachers and non-teaching staff members of 484 government-aided schools in Punjab will gherao the treasury here tomorrow demanding immediate release of the second installment of their arrears.
The second installment of the 30 per cent arrears allotted in the Fifth Pay Commission by the state government was yet to be released, president of the Government-Aided School Teachers and Other Employees Union (Punjab) Gurcharan Singh Chahal said.
All employees had already received their second installment of arrears, he said. “We submitted bills to the treasury way back in August, but still these have not been released.” — PTI
